INGREDIENTS

Delicious Chocolate Cake Mix

Orange Creamsicle Cake

  • 1 1/4 Cup Inspiration Baking Mixes-All Purpose Flour Baking Mix

  • 2/3 Cup Granulated Sugar

  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder

  • 3 Tablespoons Softened Butter

  • 2 Large Eggs

  • 1/2 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract

  • 1/8 Teaspoon Orange Extract

  • 1/2 Tablespoon White Distilled Vinegar

  • 1 Tablespoon Mayonnaise or Unsweetened Apple Sauce

  • 1/4 Cup Milk

  • 2 Oranges Zested

  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Orange Juice

Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8 Ounces Softened Cream Cheese

  • 1/2 Cup Softened Butter

  • 4 Cups Powdered Sugar

  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

DIRECTIONS

Orange Creamsicle Cake

  1. Turn oven on 350F°.

  2. Grease two round cake pans.

  3. Put all wet ingredients for the orange creamsicle cake in your stand mixer bowl.

  4. Blend on low for about 30 seconds.

  5. Scrape the bowl and add dry ingredients. Wet ingredients will be a little lumpy.

  6. Blend on medium-high for about 2 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl at least once.

  7. Place batter in one of the prepared baking pans and set aside.

Delicious Chocolate Cake

  1. No need to clean your stand mixer's bowl or beaters. The orange flavor will not transfer to the chocolate cake as the residual is minimal.

  2. Put all wet ingredients for the chocolate cake in your stand mixer bowl.

  3. Blend on low for about 30 seconds.

  4. Scrape the bowl and add dry ingredients. Wet ingredients will be a little lumpy.

  5. Blend on medium-high for about 2 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl at least once.

  6. Place batter in one of the other prepared baking pan.

  7. Place both pans into your pre-heated oven. Bake 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted into each comes out fairly clean.

  8. Place both pans upright on your wire rack for 10 minutes. Then, turn your cakes out onto parchment paper to completely cool before frosting. Keep on your wire rack while cooling.

Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

  1. While cake layers are cooking...Clean your mixing bowl. Then, place cream cheese and butter in the bowl and beat until creamy. It takes about 30 seconds, but you should stop and scrape the sides several times.

  2. Turn the mixer on low and slowly add the powdered sugar, scraping the bowl several times. Add the vanilla and turn the mixer on high. Blend until your frosting is fluffy, 1-2 minutes.

  3. Frost the cake with the Butter Cream Cheese Frosting.

 
NOTES:
- You can tint the frosting for color or add orange juice for additional flavor.
- You can also drizzle melted semi-sweet chocolate chips or melted white chocolate chips (be sure to add a little butter when melting chips).
