Mom's Homemade Bread
Makes 1 loaf
INGREDIENTS
1 box Mom’s Homemade Baking Mix
1 ¼ cup water
2 TBL active dry yeast or 2 packets rapid rise yeast
4 TBL butter or substitute
4 egg whites or egg substitute*
1 TBL gluten free vanilla
1 TBL apple cider vinegar
**For a softer bread use 2 TBL applesauce.
For best results use a stand mixer, or a bread machine.
See your bread machine instructions for gluten free bread.
INSTRUCTIONS
Grease loaf pan. Heat oven to 200°F then turn off.
Mix dry yeast in Mom’s Homemade Baking Mix and set aside.
Melt butter in 1 ¼ cup hot water, set aside.
Lightly whip the egg whites. Stir in vanilla, apple cider vinegar. ** Add 2 TBL applesauce.
Add dry mix and blend. Add water/butter mixture and blend for 2 minutes until it is like thick cake batter.
Put dough into bread pan, cover with parchment paper in warmed oven for 20-30 minutes or until double in size. Remove from oven.
Preheat oven 350°F. Leave parchment paper on loaf to prevent over browning and bake for 30-40 minutes. Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center. Remove from oven and let stand for 5-10 minutes. Remove from pan and allow to cool.
