French Bread

INGREDIENTS
1 box Dad's Pizza Crust Mix
1 1/3 cup water warm water + 3 TBL oil+ 2 TBL sugar
2 TBL active dry yeast or 2 packets rapid rise yeast
3 egg whites or egg substitute
1 whole egg or egg substitute
1 TBL baking powder
1 TBL apple cider vinegar
2 TBL applesauce
1 TBL gluten free maple syrup or 2 tsp gluten free vanilla
1 egg white & 1 TBL water to brush over top of dough
Optional: add any combination of herbs, garlic, basil, Italian seasonings in dry mix
For best results use a stand mixer

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 200°F then turn off.
Combine dry yeast, baking powder, herbs in Dad’s Pizza Crust Mix and set aside.
Heat oil/water and sugar until sugar dissolves. Temperature should not exceed 120°F.
Lightly whip eggs, apple cider vinegar, vanilla or maple syrup and applesauce together in mixing bowl.
Add dry mixture. Blend until moist
Pour oil/water mixture into Dad’s Pizza Crust Mix and blend on med-high speed for 2 minutes.
Spoon into greased loaf pan or French bread loaf pan**. Use egg white and water to brush the top of the loaf.
Cut slits across the top of the bread.
Place uncovered in oven for 20-30 minutes until double in size. Brush with egg wash again before cooking.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Bake 20-25 minutes depending on the type of pan you use. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let sit for 30 minutes before cutting.

**To make a French Baguette: Spray pan. Place dough into 1 gallon plastic storage bag. Cut end corner about ½ the size of the pan trough. Gently squeeze into the trough. Cut ¼" deep slits into top of roll. Brush with egg wash. Place in oven and let rise until doubled. Bake as directed above.
